Team Discussion Questions:
-
Review the best practices suggested in the video. Please select one and discuss why you believe the practice could be helpful in preventing sexual harassment and protecting your team.
-
Limit or avoid physical contact.
-
Avoid commenting on others’ appearances.
-
Avoid humor that involves legally protected categories.
-
Limit social interaction outside of work, particularly one-on-one interaction and including social media or text messaging.
-
Be familiar with Jack Cooper’s policies.
-
Make one-on-one meetings interruptible and observable.
-
Create a culture of speaking up.
-
Be mindful that “innocent” interactions can (1) be perceived differently by others; or (2) create an open door for sexual abusers and predators to capitalize on a workplace with limited or no boundaries.
-
Focus on the comfort of others, not what you can and cannot do (self).
-
-
Please discuss the following hypothetical with your team. Deliver-It-Fast, Inc. is looking to hire new delivery drivers quickly. However, they have a limited number of driver trainers, all of whom are male. What would be the power dynamics of a male trainer/ female trainee, and how could this create an environment where sexual harassment could occur? What are some ideas you could suggest to Deliver-It-Fast, Inc. for putting boundaries in place to protect both trainers and trainees?

-
Even if a person has “good intentions,” how does a disregard for boundaries open the door for people with bad intentions?
